M Lhuillier Philippines, through the Organizational Productivity Enhancement Committee of SocSK Region, headed by Regional Manager IsaganiLauronilla, the Area Managers and OPEC Officers brought the HIV-AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus – Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) Awareness Symposium last September 30, 2016 to Upper Maculan National High School in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
The symposium was conducted in partnership with the Integrated Provincial Health Office of South Cotabato under the tutelage of Rogelio Aturdido, Jr., M.D.
Upper Maculan National High School was adopted by the OPEC SoCSARGEN in 2011 and adopted again by OPEC T’nalak this year.
The symposium started at 9:00 a.m. A simple program prepared by the school faculty went underway. For entertainment a T’boli dance showcasing the culture of the people of Lake Sebu was performed to the delight of the visiting OPEC Team.
Arlo John Codilla, R. N., articulated the important lessons on HIV-AIDS to the wide-eyed students, particularly as they journey through puberty and adolescence. It has been reported that AIDS contamination has increased among teenagers.
The students participated enthusiastically in the discussion, posing provocative questions during the question-and-answer session. They also excitedly gave answers to questions to win prizes – t-shirts and cash courtesy of the guest speaker.
At the end of the program, OPEC T’nalak turned-over books, sports equipment, chairs, tables, curtains and signages to the school administration and school bags to the students.
The faculty and staff expressed wholehearted appreciation to M. Lhuillier Philippines for supporting the education sector for the benefit of the indigenous people of South Cotabato.
